Logos and Identity

The Fischell Festival is an annual, signature event held by the Fischell Dept. of Engineering at the University of Maryland. I branded everything we used: e-mails, programs, handouts, signage, postcards, tour maps, and name tags, which themselves varied to quickly indicate faculty, staff, speakers and general guests. Most of the material was produced in-house or on campus. Investing the effort to create these things can make even a modest event look polished and professional.
DETS manages the technology side of video (live) and online distance learning at the College Park campus. This suite of combination marks was created for their use in a variety of contexts. The idea here was to suggest broadcasting or pushing of information.

I AM A "BRAND CHAMPION"
I ensure proper and consistent use of logos, workmarks, colors, typefaces, and imagery; design "suites" of materials; and provide resources and information for employees. In the context of working for multiple departments within a college, which itself is part of a large university, I follow a hierarchy of standards but explore where we can be flexible. My goal is to create pieces that are clearly "siblings," but not identical. This also allows me to work efficiently, since core design resources can be shared among my departments and with colleagues in other units. A number of my designs have been adopted and adapted throughout the A. James Clark School of Engineering at the University of Maryland.
